Na última Data Fifa, após assistir Brasil x Chile, me deparei com
uma fala do atacante Luiz Henrique, do Zenit, depois de sua bela
atuação, que me chamou atenção:

“Essa hora eu pensei: eu tenho que ser o Luiz Henrique que saiu de
Petrópolis. Pensei em quando jogava com meus amigos. Jogava
leve, jogava solto. Quando estava no hotel, ajoelhei e pedi a Deus
que eu pudesse ser o Luiz Henrique do Vale do Carangola: que
jogasse feliz, que ajudasse meus companheiros e que jogasse para
a minha família, que veio ao Maracanã me apoiar. Graças a Deus,
deu tudo certo. Temos que continuar com essa pegada. Só queria
ser o Luiz Henrique do Vale do Carangola, que jogasse com alegria.
Não quero perder nunca a minha alegria de jogar futebol. Sou
apaixonado, e deu tudo certo.”

Ao assistir a entrevista — somada à ótima partida do jogador — o
conceito de estado de flow (que inclusive já refletimos em colunas
anteriores aqui no portal) me veio de forma imediata, como algo
concreto e prático. O estado de flow é um conceito da psicologia
positiva descrito por Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. Ele representa um
estado mental em que a pessoa está completamente envolvida e
absorvida em uma atividade, a ponto de perder a noção do tempo e
do ambiente ao redor. É quase como se o indivíduo estivesse
totalmente imerso no presente — no “aqui e agora”. Para que isso
ocorra, algumas características se fazem presentes: foco total na
tarefa, clareza de objetivos, equilíbrio entre desafio e habilidade,
sensação de controle, perda da autocrítica e alteração na
percepção do tempo.

Apesar de soar, muitas vezes, como algo abstrato ou distante, o
flow se mostra muito presente e palpável no futebol de alto nível.
Na fala de Luiz Henrique, ao relembrar sua infância e a alegria
genuína de jogar com os amigos, ele descreve um estado em que o
jogo flui com naturalidade, sem a interferência de pressões externas
— torcida, adversário ou o peso de uma partida decisiva. Ali
estavam evidentes foco total, confiança, espontaneidade e leveza.

Essa ideia também aparece no livro “FLOW (Fluir) en Fútbol”(2015), no qual Miguel Fernández Macías aponta que uma das mais
marcantes características do flow individual no futebol é quando “o
jogador se sente absorvido; ele executa ações técnico-táticas de
forma automática”.

Ao se remeter à sua infância, Luiz Henrique reconecta-se
justamente a esse estado em que o jogo acontece com leveza e
alegria, permitindo que a performance flua de forma natural. Para
que essa condição surja, fatores do ambiente também
desempenham papel fundamental, favorecendo ou atrapalhando o
processo, como já discutimos em outro texto publicado aqui no
portal (“O que sustenta boas decisões e indica talentos no futebol”).

O ponto central é que o flow, muitas vezes tratado como algo
distante ou abstrato, é real, acessível e impacta de maneira decisiva
no rendimento de atletas no mais alto nível. O desafio de
treinadores, atletas e equipes está em criar e sustentar as
condições que permitam que esse estado emerja, potencializando a
performance de forma consistente.
