Antes de iniciarmos o texto em busca de responder à pergunta do título, permita-me me apresentar, pois estarei aqui no portal novamente depois de alguns anos, compartilhando reflexões frequentemente (pelo menos uma vez por mês). Por isso, considero importante contextualizar minha trajetória. Além disso, naturalmente, o futebol tem muito de contexto, e, por isso, também é importante que se entenda o contexto em que vou, neste texto, buscar responder à questão.

Atualmente, sou formado em Psicologia, pós-graduado em Gestão de Pessoas e Lideranças, e estou Scout do FC Dallas, da MLS, na América do Sul, desde outubro de 2022. Mas acho relevante voltar ao início da minha história para compreender toda a questão.

Desde muito cedo, sou um aficionado por futebol. Como muitos brasileiros, também sonhei em ser jogador de futebol, mas meu fraco desempenho, já nas aulas de Educação Física, me mostrou rapidamente que isso não seria possível. Sendo assim, já aos 12 anos, decidi que gostaria de trabalhar com o esporte e me coloquei a estudar, com todas as minhas forças, o jogo e tudo o que se envolvia nele.

Muito graças a esta instituição e ao professor João Paulo Medina, pude começar, já aos 12 anos, a fazer cursos e me aprofundar em tudo aquilo que dizia respeito ao jogo, tentando absorver todo conhecimento possível.

Ainda bem cedo, pude fazer estágios importantes na minha trajetória (passei por uma importante agência de jogadores por um período relativamente longo, além de clubes como o Novorizontino — onde fiz um estágio de observação com Eduardo Barros, então treinador da equipe Sub-20 — e na equipe Sub-20 do Corinthians, que era liderada pelo treinador Osmar Loss). Até que, depois de muito estudar e ter algumas boas oportunidades de estágio, aos 20 anos, recebo o convite para ajudar a estruturar e desenvolver, junto com outros profissionais, o Departamento de Análise de Desempenho na base do clube, o qual a direção da época havia entendido ser importante possuir.

Logo de início, mesmo com certo conhecimento técnico do jogo e já com o pensamento sistêmico sobre as partes (técnico, tático, físico e psicológico) que compõem o futebol, um detalhe tomava conta da minha cabeça, já nas minhas primeiras semanas de clube: como posso querer analisar o jogo sem entender melhor sobre cada um destes meninos que jogam as partidas? Eu já sabia que a parte mental tinha bastante relevância, mas, ao me deparar com vários jovens (e, claro, muitos colegas de trabalho) de muitas culturas e idades diferentes com quem convivia por lá, essa questão foi ficando cada vez mais forte em mim, até que, nas minhas primeiras semanas de SPFC, defini fazer Psicologia.

Essa escolha me acompanhou, desde então, em todas as etapas da minha carreira. Tive a honra, durante a minha faculdade, após três anos e meio trabalhando na base e tendo contato com diversas categorias, de subir para a equipe profissional do SPFC como analista de desempenho (onde, posteriormente, migrei para o departamento de Scout). É claro que, naquele momento e contexto específicos, as perguntas se modificaram um pouco, mas a inquietação de tentar sempre me aprofundar e entender sobre o indivíduo que joga o jogo permanecia. Todos que um dia foram meninos apenas, mas, ali, já homens com outra exposição social e relação com o futebol, em relação à maioria dos meninos com quem convivi em Cotia (ainda que parte deles fosse oriunda de lá), eram indivíduos em um contexto completamente diferente — e era importante entender isso para entender o jogo.

Ao todo, entre base e profissional, análise de desempenho e mercado, foram sete anos de SPFC e, embora tenha vivido em contextos e perspectivas diferentes, a busca por entender (e a importância dada aos) indivíduos que jogam o jogo sempre esteve muito presente na minha cabeça. A faculdade foi me respaldando com mais e mais conhecimento para lidar com as diferentes questões que, no fim, buscavam por um entendimento mais complexo do jogo e de suas partes em constante interação.

Mesmo depois de aceitar o desafio de deixar o SPFC e mergulhar em um novo desafio em um clube internacional, a busca por entender o indivíduo que joga o jogo permanece sempre presente, ainda que em um contexto diferente.

Levando para a prática, para tornar mais palpável o meu raciocínio, considere que, como Scout de um grande clube do Brasil (hoje uma potência econômica, principalmente em relação aos demais países da América do Sul), eu esteja analisando e observando um jogador que vem se destacando em um clube médio do Uruguai. Ao analisar esse jogador, é fundamental tentar observar a parte humana para entender se o desempenho que ele mostra na sua equipe local pode, de fato, ser traduzido em outro contexto. Algumas perguntas são importantes, como, por exemplo: quais as diferenças culturais entre os clubes? Quais as diferenças culturais entre os países? Os comportamentos esperados pelo clube que está recebendo o atleta aparecem, de alguma forma, no seu clube atual? Se possível, entender como é aquele indivíduo no seu dia a dia? Todas essas questões são tão ou mais importantes do que atributos técnicos ou táticos de um atleta, para entender se a adaptação ao contexto e ao ambiente é possível e, a partir daí, consequentemente, possa-se buscar o melhor rendimento possível. Esse entendimento só me foi plenamente possível de ser levado em conta com a seriedade que exige (não de forma rasa), com a ajuda da Psicologia.

Portanto, mesmo entendendo que todos os outros componentes que ainda busco sempre estudar (físico, técnico e tático) são fundamentais e estão em constante interação, posso dizer que a minha escolha por fazer Psicologia como faculdade (e seguir estudando toda a parte mental) foi muito importante para me ajudar, como analista, a entender mais sobre o jogo e, consequentemente, na minha visão, o principal fator do futebol, que, apesar de se ajustar a diferentes contextos, sempre estará presente numa partida: a pessoa que compõe o jogador(a).
